Merry Christmas!

What a great Christmas gift!  We were discharged from the hospital last evening and Kendon got to sleep in his own cradle last night!

We are doing great. He really seems to be a very content baby and we're starting to figure out his little cues.

Thank you for all of the messages, calls, and visits. We are blessed to have so much support as we take on the biggest job of our lives.

Merry Christmas!

As promised more Kendon!

Where did Kendon come from? Kendon is Daniel's middle name and is a name that was created by his parents. Daniel's grandfather's names are Ken and Don. In search of a family name for him Michele decided to put the 2 together to create Kendon. We are so blessed to be able to name our new little man after his great grandfathers. (plus putting our Dad's names together would create Donuane and that just seemed wrong!) His middle name comes from our desire for him to know and follow the Lord. Gabriel means "man of God".

Now what you've been waiting for. More Kendon!

Love,

Daniel, Jennifer and Kendon

Kendon Gabriel Haggar was born December 21st at 9:08pm. He was 21 inches long and weighed 8lbs 11oz.

Kendon and his mother are both doing great!

Term

Here is a photo from the youth group Christmas party. We were asked to wear Christmas sweaters. Jennifer couldn't find one to fit the belly, but thankfully Baby Haggar let her borrow one of his. Daniel's sweater came with the impressive turtle neck you see in the photo and the saying "The greatest of these is love!" This photo was taken one day before the due date (so we'll pass it off as a term belly photo).

Blessings,

Thankful

We have lots to be thankful for this year. First and always we are thankful for our Lord, protector, creator and His perfect promise. We are thankful that it was in His plan for us to be parents. We are thankful for the families we have and the one we are growing.

On Thanksgiving Day baby Haggar was 37 weeks- TERM! Here is a photo of the ever growing belly.

Nursery

Here is a sneak peak at Baby Haggar's room (don't tell him you got to see it first). Having the nursery finished and nothing left on our "to do before baby" list feels good!

Tons of thanks to great grandma LaVonne who put her sewing skills to work and helped with the curtains and refinishing the glider.

Blessings,

Baby Project

This was completed a long time ago but we thought we would share some photos. We got this dresser from Aunt Jenna. Jennifer got ambitious and decided to refinish it to match the babies room. There were a few disasters along the project road. Grandpa Dewey and Uncle Tyler had to do a lot of the work because we found out that paint stripper on plastic makes a gross paste that can only be removed with paint thinner (something pregnant women generally try to avoid).

In the end it turned out beautiful and now adds a great splash of green color to the babies room.

Here are a few before and afters!

And the belly keeps growing

Here is a belly photo from today. Jennifer will be 35 weeks along on Thursday. That means there are only 37 days until our due date!

I officially got the "wow you're huge" comment the other day. No more hiding in pre-pregnancy clothes.

Daniel's pregnant too!

Sorry for the gap in posting. Our camera went to London with aunt Heather H. and we kept forgetting to get it back. So here's an update.

Last week at birth class the guys got to experience part of pregnancies glory. They tried on a 30 lb "sympathy belly". Our instructor asked them to tie their shoes, try to roll over and wear some beautiful maternity clothing. Daniel was excited to be pregnant because he thought that meant he would get the back rubs and foot rubs that go with it. . . .  he was wrong!

I am 33 weeks and 5 days in this picture and I think Daniel is just about as far along!

30 Weeks!

This is a little early but we thought to take the pic tonight. I will be 30 weeks on Thursday! Still feeling great, with lots of energy and no real complaints. We started birth classes tonight which makes the whole thing another step closer to real. All of the baby projects are coming along and we are starting to feel more and more prepared for this little guy to make his appearance. We hope you're well and enjoying the blog.

Love,

3D ultrasound picture

Here is your first glimpse of baby Haggar. We of course are in love with him already. I am attempting this post via my phone. Hope it works. If it doesn't you will have to wait a few more days until I have time to scan the photo.

3 month countdown begins!

We kicked the 3rd trimester off with a bang today! We had a follow up ultrasound to obtain the cardiac views they couldn't get at 20 weeks. Baby Haggar and his heart look perfect! He is measuring right on (though we can tell he's got the Haggar Head). He was estimated to weigh 2lb 7oz today. We got a great 3D picture and I'll try to get that on here.

Here is a belly shot from today. 27 weeks with exactly 3 months to go until our due date!

23 Week Belly

New pic as promised. To be honest we are both a little shocked by how pregnant I look in the picture. I'll blame the dress, but I think it's just reality setting in.

It's a . . . . ?

We had the big ultrasound a few weeks ago! Baby Haggar is healthy, growing and looking cute as ever! At the ultrasound we asked the tech to place the gender of the baby in a sealed envelope (without telling us what we are having).

The next day we had a "Hot Dog or Hamburger?" party with our families. Each person in attendance had to decide which team they were on.

Team Hamburger (girl)

Team Hot Dog (boy) + honorary member Aunt Heather M.
We went through 21 old wives tales to help us determine if we will be having a blue or pink world come December. 14 of the 21 old wives tales predicted we are expecting a girl. When the time came for the big reveal we had mini cupcakes for everyone. (We gave the secret containing envelope to some family friends. They make the cupcakes out of blue or pink batter depending on the gender of the baby.) So a bite into the cupcake gave us the answer we were looking for . . .

It's a Boy!

Grandparents, parents and Baby Boy Haggar! (+ creeper uncle Tyler)

Thanks to Michele for planning such a fun and enjoyable party. I'll throw in a few extra photos just to show how much fun we had!

Being fierce for Team Hot Dog (Tyler, Emma and Chelsea)

So true!

Daniel with the outfit he wore home from the hospital! He thinks he could still fit.

Belly Pictures

What kind of pregnant woman would I be if I didn't make my spouse take those tacky, periodic pictures of my growing belly? To be honest, it has been fun to watch my body adapt and change while it cares for another life. Last night, we could see the baby moving through my belly. Its pretty crazy to watch a part of my body move and know I'm not moving it!

These pictures are a bit late but I'll add them anyway. The first is from 16 weeks which was really the first time we noticed a little bump. The 2nd is from 20 weeks. Over the last few days we have been noticing a big change. I'll get some current(23 week) pics up soon.

Up and Running

Welcome,

We are hoping to use this website to keep you updated on our rapidly changing life! This will be a new endeavor, a work in progress, and hopefully another joy in our lives. The last 2 years of marriage have been full of change and fun. To add to the adventure we are expecting baby Haggar on December 16th, 2010! Jennifer is now 19 weeks pregnant, feeling great and enjoying the wiggles of baby Haggar. She'll start residency with the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry program (in Sioux Falls) on August 30th, and will transition to the Sanford Pediatrics program in July of 2011. Daniel is working at Hot Stuff Foods and laying the ground work for Haggar Law.

Feel free to comment and follow the blog. Pictures to come.
